You are what you eat

Fresh

I've been going on about this 40-day cleanse for the last 39 days! Yes, tomorrow is the very last day. I kind of can't believe it. On one hand, time has passed quickly and on the other hand, 40 days is a long time. It's enough time to incorporate new habits into my lifestyle. Watching documentaries like Food Inc. woke me up a bit. Eating this way has started to feel normal. I'm not craving processed white sugar treats, red meat, poultry, croissants, or even, gasp, coffee! I did have three allongés in total but that's it. I'm not really craving anything, except maybe fish. I am looking forward to a nice pan-fried, macadamia-crusted salmon. But I have to say, I'm surprised at how normal it feels to eat a vegetarian, gluten-free, mostly dairy-free diet. (I had yogurt in my smoothie sometimes.) I'm also surprised that it's doable--it's not some strange new way of eating where you can never eat out again.

The best thing is I feel so good! For 40 days, well, 39, I have not experienced any brain fog and my digestion and skin continue to improve. I feel stronger mentally and physically thanks to a daily practice of yoga and mediation. Pretty good pay offs!

I want to share with you some of the food I've been making. Look for recipes next week. In the meantime, feel free to ask any questions you have about this journey.

Stay warm and healthy this weekend!

40 days is a SERIOUS commitment! Congratulations!! I'd love to see a typical 'day in the life' breakdown in terms of what you ate on this cleanse. =)
