Observing a craving

Anthropologie

I'm grateful the weather has been warm the last few weeks because it's made being on the cleanse a little easier. As soon as it gets chilly I start to crave all things cozy like a croissant and an allongé.

This morning I really, really, really wanted coffee! I'm not stopping it forever; I don't drink that much anyway. I'm just setting it aside for the first few weeks of this cleanse. One reason is it is highly acidic and the second reason is because I like milk in my coffee and dairy is another item I have cut out for now. I notice when I consume too much dairy I feel congested and my skin breaks out. The research I've done suggests this is because dairy causes inflammation and a build up of mucus in the body. Personally, I know that when I'm not sipping creamy coffee or nibbling on brie I feel more clear and my skin glows a little more. But I think I also owe the glow to green.

Anyway, no coffee today. I did it. I almost caved and had some with steamed soy milk. Instead I steamed almond milk with a spoonful of almond butter, vanilla, and a touch of maple syrup and added that to my Earl Grey tea. It satisfied my craving for coziness. Pretty delicious, actually.
