I am on week two of my cleanse and I love how I'm feeling these days. The first few days I was kind of grouchy but since then my energy has been high, thanks to the inclusion of daily doses of green and due to the removal of inflammatory/acidic food and drink.
The past week, I've been focusing not only on diet but also on how I can clean up other areas of my life--getting rid of clothes I no longer wear, not buying anything new until after Christmas, cleaning out the dusty corners of the apartment by tossing stuff that just sits there staring, devloping a habit of effective budget-keeping, turning off the computer more, and cleaning up my attitude, like being truthful, like saying what's on my mind instead of bottling it in, like being proactive.
Satya, or truthfulness, is the part of the cleanse I'll focus on this week. It seems simple, doesn't it? I mean, we are all taught to tell the truth. And for the most part we do, except for those little omissions of information or the white lies that won't affect anyone anyway or the words we tell ourselves to justify our actions. When you think about it, if we are going to get real, being honest is not always easy to do, right? I don't know when it starts but I think many of us getting into habitual patterns that become the norm. We forget to question why we are doing the same thing over and over. I don't think we're doing ourselves or anyone in our lives any favours. I would like to be the most authentic version of myself so this entails peeling away the layers of scum that have built up over the years; this means tossing the habits that are no longer serving me, but instead are holding me back.
Next time you withhold the truth, even a truth you deem unimportant, or next time you tell yourself a fluffy white lie, notice how you feel in your body. Do you tense up anywhere? Do you feel a knot in the pit of your stomach? If you do it's okay. This is just about becoming aware of what is going on when we are not being truthful. Today, become aware of what seeds you are planting. Remember, the future shows up as the present moment, so take care of these moments right in front of you.
Just spit it out. Notice how much lighter you feel when you live authentically.
